Puerto Plata's cable car to the summit of Mount Isabel de Torres is one of the only ones of its kind in the Caribbean, with a botanical garden and a Christ statue modeled on Rio's at the top. The historic Malecón boardwalk and the Fortaleza San Felipe fortress are close to the pier, while the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua and Ocean World Adventure Park are popular half-day excursions.
